Assistant Geomatics Aerial Surveyor Job Position
Location: East Midlands, UK
Spending extended periods of time on board light aircraft and working day or night capturing data using a variety of instruments including LIDAR and aerial metric cameras to support the delivery of our national programmes. The survey aircraft captures LIDAR data on 24/7 basis. Successful candidates will therefore be expected to work a flexible shift pattern to include alternate weekends and a significant amount of night work.
You will have a good degree in Geography, Surveying or other relevant scientific discipline.
Skills / Experience
You will be able to demonstrate field work experience in remote sensing or similar survey techniques either through work or your academic experiences. Basic knowledge of GIS, LIDAR and associated technologies are essential. Your technical expertise should be combined with enthusiasm, flexibility and a professional attitude. Much of the work is carried out independently or as part of a small field team so an ability to make good operational decisions is essential. Safety is at the centre of everything we do; it is vital that you can show evidence of professional conduct in challenging situations.
There are two short term assignments via an employment agency which run to the end of March 2015. Successful candidates will need to register with the employment agency (details to follow). These positions are based at East Midlands Airport. The pay will be equivalent to an annual salary of £20,504. There is an additional 20% allowance for flexible shift working.
